Oware — The Journey of the Seeds

The Akan seed game of Ghana, played across six regions of Africa.

Lift the seeds from one of your pits and sow them one by one around the board. Land your last seed in an enemy pit holding one or two, and you take what it becomes. Twenty-five seeds wins. It takes four minutes to learn and a long time to get good at.

Six opponents wait along the journey, from Kumasi to the Drakensberg, each playing a little better than the last. Full Abapa tournament rules: the twelve-seed lap skip, backward capture chains, the obligation to feed a starving opponent, and the grand slam that takes nothing.
